"No Promoting Alcohol, Drugs": Diljit Dosanjh Gets Notice Before Hyderabad Concert
Ahead of his highly anticipated Dil-Luminati concert in Hyderabad, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh received a legal notice from the Telangana government. The notice, issued by the district welfare officer on November 7, instructs Dosanjh not to perform songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or violence. The notice follows a complaint by Chandigarh-based professor Panditrao Dharenavar, who presented video evidence of Dosanjh performing such content during a live show in Delhi on October 26 and 27.
In addition, the notice prohibits Dosanjh from bringing children on stage, citing safety concerns due to the high sound pressure levels that could exceed safe limits for children. The Telangana government aims to prevent exposure to harmful effects from loud sounds and flashing lights, especially for younger audiences.
Punjabi singers have faced criticism for glorifying gun violence and promoting drug culture in their songs. In 2020, the late Sidhu Moosewala was also booked for promoting gun violence in his song Sanju.
Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati concert will take place at 7 PM on Friday at GMR Arena, Airport Approach Road in Hyderabad, with an expected crowd of over 20,000 people. Police have been stationed for crowd and traffic control, but no special restrictions are in place.
Diljit arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday and shared his excitement on social media, posting a video of his visit to the iconic Charminar.
